The Legal WoF Limit (New Zealand)
For a Warrant of Fitness, your tyres must have a minimum tread depth of 1.5mm across three-quarters of the tread pattern, around the entire circumference of the tyre. However, safety experts recommend replacing tyres before they reach this absolute limit, as wet-weather braking performance drops significantly well before 1.5mm.
